I found this in the Amazon reviews of an SMC router:

| I'm connected to a cable modem (dynamic IP) through SMC router 7004FW, and running W2K SP4. Problem is, I'm still seeing attacks on UDP ports 1026 & 1027 reaching my PC and getting blocked by ZoneAlarm.
On the router, I don't have anything special configured like NAT or DMZ, but I do have the firewall turned on (SPI firewall) with all intrusion detection features activated. My understanding was that the router would block all internet-side attacks from reaching my PC since my PC IP address is assigned by the router as 192.168.1.100 and is not even routable.
How is the attacker (located in China) able to penetrate the router when it doesn't even know the inside IP address? |
