They cannot keep up with firmware updates and/or hardware revisions on particular router models. For instance, there are literally 2 dozen variations on the basic WRT54G design from Linksys. There is no way anyone but Linksys would be able to keep up with all of the hardware and firmware combinations out there. Your best bet is to go to each router manufacturer and query them about the specs of each of their units. Another solution for you might to be to use an open-source firewall such as IPCop, Smoothwall or m0n0wall. I will have to go check that site and see what kind of recommendations they have. I can't wait until the new FIOS Fiber comes to this area. ANd yes i did a speedtest directly to the speakeasy router and it flies. It is definitely the Netgear issue, but speakeasy weenies don't really help.

Just a thought, are you familiar with smallnetbuilder.com? They have performance ratings for a number of SOHO/Small biz routers, perhaps they have something with the 15 Mbps performance you are looking for.

I didn't look myself, so I don't know if your Netgear is rated.

Isn't the router connected to your DSL modem via Ethernet? I don't know what compatibility issues there might be. Have you tried connecting a nice, fast PC (with firewall turned on, etc.) directly to the modem to do a speed test?

6 Months wait for 15mbps/1 ADSL2.
1 Static Ip
Netgear fvs318v2.3 VPN Firewall :( (apparently not compatible only get 5mbps downloads.
I go to they myspeakeasy site and ask general questions to get my 15mbps but no one has an answer. They won't even tell you what frigging router to use. WTF.

SO now I have to rely on outside help.

I know sonicwall tz 170 and the cisco pix 501 works but a hell of lot of sheckles.

Can anyone recommend an Router/Firewall (No Need for the VPN Tunnel) ?
