WRONG. a lot of people in RURAL areas can not get anything but dial up. so, do not say it's dead. it won't be.

you try moving out in the country (especially in virgina) and see about getting broadband.

There is satellite also..
Satellite isn't always a viable option. Latency, reliability, customer service, "fair usage policies" and price are major issues.
