Early Adoptors do not predict the future

I thought these comments were very interesting:
quote:
"Still, the numbers are slipping as FiOS reaches more than just early adopters who were initially ecstatic with the speed"

"[Re VoIP]...and Vonage take the top spots"

One company that is very early in their product line, but investing billions over billions around infrastructure (and the marketing of that infrastructure). The general belief (mostly from early adoptors) that FTTH is the ONLY viable solution (similar to "twisted pair once was believed to have a maximum speed of 10Mbps")

....And the "best VoIP provider" is the same provider that will probably be out of business in a year. They could not figure out a way to get beyond early adoptors.

The future of technology also requires business intelligence of which early adopters typically have very little.
