Speedfactory No Longer Servicing DSL in Atlanta Area

DSL Service has been officially declared DEAD.
On the main Speed Factory line - - -

"Thank you for calling Speed Factory."

"Speed Factory is no longer servicing or offering DSL service in the Atlanta market."

"We appologise for this inconvenience."

"DSL Billings will be adjusted properly with an effective billing date as of July 28, all other services will continue."

"To upgrade your account to a T1 please call our sales department....."

"Please contact AT&T ... to move your DSL service directly to their network."

I called SF and got one of their techs. He explained that the local guys were caught off guard along with the customers ... they thought the outage was a network problem until they got a call from corporate in California this morning letting them know that they decided yesterday to terminate DSL service.

I hope these guys find some capital to start over and provide the same great level of service the old SF did.

Now to evaluate my options -- I need service today! Any pointers would be helpful!

Re: Speedfactory No Longer Servicing DSL in Atlanta Area

For those that do not know, Abraxis Networks is another local ISP offering DSL in the Atlanta Area. We can match just about any service plan SpeedFactory had; including static IP addresses and network blocks, web and email hosting, and server collocation. If you have/had SpeedFactory in the Atlanta Metro area you are almost guaranteed to qualify for Abraxis service and you can use your existing equipment (customer configuration required).

I know it's a bit sales pitchy but I feel that everyone should know that there are alternatives to the "Big Bell" when it comes to DSL Service.

I think SpeedFactory's closing comes as a surprise to us all, especially in this faction. Let me know if I personally (or Abraxis) can offer any assistance.

Good luck to all,

Typical of Speedfactory Management. Looks like they would have learned their lesson with the outage in April. Obviously not.

And to top that off the they sent us a last payment notice and 2 bills with late charges. AND WE HAVE AUTOMATIC CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS!

To anyone using that company for DSL or any other service, all I can say is run to another provider as fast as you can.

The final screw you from Speedfactory. For those that did not leave during the fiasco earlier this year what a final shafting this last act was. Some forewarning would have been nice. I totally hope that those that made the decision to cut us off are unemployed soon, and I hope the head of that crappy company ends up bankrupt.

If you're looking for a business level DSL, check out Net2Atlanta. Fixed ips, monitored lines, managed routers, redundant links, solid financials. A lot more than you got from SpeedFactory lately.

Re: Speedfactory No Longer Servicing DSL in Atlanta Area

All tier two and three providers can bite my bag from now on. I can go to ATT and know that my service will not disappear and I am able to have a dry line through ATT. No thank you to anyone else going forth.

I was also cut off without notice by speedfactory. I placed an order with www.atlanticnexus.com after 5PM on the 29th and had working service by 11AM the next day.

I have been impressed with their customer service.

I would have service by now with Atlantic Nexus but we can't get into the stinking Greatspeed Duo working so I have to wait for a modem that should be here tomorrow.

if all else fails, try holding a paper clip in the reset
hole for at least 10 seconds while it's powered up.

I switched to Atnex a little while after the first big SF outage, at the recommendation of a coworker. They've been great, so much better than SF or Bellsouth before them.

Got me set up very quickly. They also investigated and got AT&T to fix a line problem that I've had for years, and could never get SF or Bellsouth to fix.

I posted the issue with speedfactory charging us for late payment when we have automatic credit card payment. Wife's still tying to get someone on the phone. Had to leave messages. Sounds stupid but if we don't hear from them and get a refund on our credit card we're gonna dispute $1.00 late fee charges on principle.

Atlantic Nexus simple rocks. I was able to use speedfactory dial up. I put in a web order for DSL service with Atlantic Nexus at 7pm Tuesday night saying I was a speedfactory customer and had my DSL service discontinued. At 2 am Wednesday morning I receive a confirmation email from an Atlantic Nexus sales rep. At 5am I request an additional email account for my wife. At 8am my webmail account was working. At 11am get confirmation my wife's email account was activate and I was able to access the account via webmail. At 6pm while still using the same speedfactory dsl modem with no configuration changes, I make the necessary account setup changes on my router. BINGO we have Atlantic Nexus DSL in less than 24 hours.

ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING ATLANTIC NEXUS.

Now I'm an EX sf customer

OK, one more time,.....Give ATNEX a call. I can honestly say to you right now they are, without a doubt, the absolute BEST ISP, service and support, in Atlanta.
Now, you can take what I have to say with whatever,.......I dont care,....Go with whoever you want,...I dont care........But if you are tired of being treated like shit, and hate having to wait for a week (or 2) to get something fixed, try them.
I will NEVER go back to Comcast or ATT or anyone else for that matter.
