It's my understanding that all the voice and data traffic will still route through Sprint (almost like a VPN since it's all encrypted). I can see this becoming popular in some households, so hopefully they'll find a way to make some allowances for femtocell usage.

Yes. All the voice functions you enjoy with your Sprint CDMA handset can be used while you are within the AIRAVE coverage area. Rather than this plan you may be better off with some free or very cheap VOIP plan that supports a phone with WiFi capability.
