| dsl modem stats
The near end looks terrible and the far end is better but some errors...What do you guys think of it? Theres old phone wiring that would be my guess for the errors. Also my isp is not listed here so i dont know where to post it. |

| You have only 6 dB of upstream margin even though line loss is very low at 13 dB in both directions. Margin under about 9 dB typically result in unstable connections. I've never seen the same attenuation in both directions. Upstream DSL uses much lower band of frequencies then downstream so it usually shows lower loss.
Several questions:
1) Is this new or have stats always been like this?
2) Power cycle the modem. ADSL is adaptive. There may have been some transient effect that caused reduced margin.
3) Do you know how far you are from the CO/RT and who provide DSL?

join:2007-01-20 Two Rivers, WI | That stat page was not even a full day and the errors are crazy. Theres a boxy cabinet just down the street, dont know if its verizons or lakefields, will have to look on it next time. |
