Good experience with Fairpoint repair of FiOS installation
I came home from work late Monday afternoon to find the alarm on the Battery Backup Unit beeping, and the "System" indicator flashing; a look at the ONT showed all indicators were off. No telephone, no Internet. A call to the Verizon Fiber Solutions Center resulted in a service call scheduled for the next day.
The Fairpoint tech replaced the ONT and that restored my service. I had a chance to speak with the tech afterward, and asked him how he felt about the FP acquisition after a few months. He was generally positive about the transition, and said that in his opinion FP was trying a lot harder than Verizon to provide a good customer service experience.
While I opposed the sale, I'm optimistic that the "new" FP employees are feeling positive about the acquisition. I doubt that we'll see any effort to expand the FTTP network or to add TV services to the fiber, but perhaps the folks in rural areas will indeed benefit by FP's plans for DSL expansion.
