Ok

Like really who is going to sit and really WATCH the olympics?

All we want is the highlights anymore.

I'm planning on watching a lot of the running events. The 100m, 200m, 400m, etc, plus the 1500m and 5000m.

Actually, the exact opposite is true in my case. The highlights are pretty pointless to me. Watching history made live, with national pride on the line - the feeling I get when watching the Olympics can't be conjured up in an 8 second "highlight".

I'd rather watch someone who's working to fix our nations problems than worry about vanity issues such as pride. Getting tired of watching family members suffer due to high gas prices..

This coming from FloMo, eh? Then tell your family members to get rid of their trucks, or live in a place with less sprawl.

Highlights?

I don't even watch the highlights. Quite frankly, I really don't care.

Big deal, some dude can jump over a pole, run around a track, throw a stick, throw a metal ball, etc.

YAWN.

Guess that makes me a typical American rube who isn't worldly.

I'm comfortable with that..

If you watch football and baseball, it just makes you a hypocrite... Or simply someone who doesn't like other sports.

Hypocrite? Naa, I think that's too strong a word.

Probably simply someone who doesn't like other sports.

I watch baseball if it's on. I go to a few games a year, but I view baseball the same way I view going fishing. It's more an excuse to sit and do nothing.

I'm not saying it shouldn't be televised, or people shouldn't enjoy it if they do. I simply said I couldn't care less...

Watch CSPAN then. A 100m sprinter isn't going to lower gas prices, so he/she might as well do something that they love to do.

If the smog gets too bad you might not see too many running events
