Download more on dialup!

You know whats funny? You can download more on dial-up than on high speed internet (assuming no caps on dial-up of course)

Math:
Dial-up on average (this is AVERAGE NOT MAX OR SLOWEST) is 5kb/sec down
5 (kb/s) * 60 (sec/min) * 60 (min/hr) * 24 (24hr/day) * 30 (days/month) = 12960000kbs/month
/ 1024 (1024kb in 1 mb) = 12656.25mbs/month
/ 1024 (1024mb in 1 GB) = 12.359619140625 GBs/month

Now of course, this is assuming you download straight 24/7 (torrents anyone?)...but just trying to create some sort of comparison.

P.S. Can someone double check my work? It should be right...but I sometimes don't get the formula right .

Your math is OK, but I'll go you one better. v32ter modems were available in 1993 (I feel old). For those of you unfamiliar with modem history, that's a blazing 19.2 kbits/sec = 2.4 kbytes/sec. Even that can crank through 5.9 gigs/month. Sheesh.

mine fios connection is about 365x 56k so that would mean if i used it 24/7 for 30 days thats would be 11680gb or 11.68tb of data.
