Just to ask a quick question, any information on why Rogers local 10-digit telephone number 416-448-7333 is being discontinue?

I just called Rogers and immediately a recording came on saying the 10-digit local calling number is being discontinued and to call 1-888-764-3771 for all future calls. Not that's it's a big deal, just wondering why?

Thornhill, ON		 Rogers is discontinuing a whole bunch of local numbers to save money. They announced this a few months ago.
