Re: My DSL Profile

Can you guys try me on 8 meg again? It might actually work since they worked on my line.

Thanks!

We have seen others with problems that occur at a certain time. The most common problem that I have seen at night is dusk to dawn lights, either street lights, or outside lights on your home, or a neighbors.

Keep close tabs on the exact moment, try to watch outside, or it could be something inside your home that you turn on at the same time during the evening.

(added) Just checked, looks like sunset is 7:59 for your area currently.

They swapped pairs today and put me back on 10 meg for testing. So far so good... we'll see what happens tonite, which is usually when things start going sour. Wish me luck!

I'm down again today. Can you put me on 6 meg again? If I still have as much trouble on 6 meg as I'm having on 8 I'm just gonna cancel the whole thing. I told the repair man that it goes down every night and he insists that "there's nothing we can do."

My DSL seems to do ok during the day, but always goes to crap in the evening around 8 pm.

ADSL Line State: Up
ADSL Startup Attempts: 4
ADSL Modulation: ADSL2+
ADSL Data Path: Interleave
Datapump Version: DSP 5.2.2.0, HAL 5.2.2.0

Downstream Upstream
---------- ----------
SNR Margin: 6.50 12.50 dB
Line Attenuation: 42.50 25.00 dB
Output Power: 20.89 12.29 dB
Errored Seconds: 0 0
Loss of Signal: 0 0
Loss of Frame: 0 0
CRC Errors: 0 0
Data Rate: 9820 894

I had to reboot to get the stats to come up that good.

Ideas?

Update: It got even worse.

Nope. Got a new NID with built in filter & have a homerun going straight from there to the modem.

Are you running the phone line through the surge protector then to the modem?

It seems to be working fine. I just replaced a surge protector and wanted to see what I synched at when the modem reconnected and those were the stats. Take a look NOW:

Is the connection flaky, or were you just checking your stats at random?

266 upload margin! Yeah baby!

Something is definitely goofy somewhere....

I called in on 8/4/08 to order a static an was told it was $20 for 1 or 6,so I ordered 6 ip addresses. After waiting all week I finally call the IHD and my account is only set up with one ip not six. Now CSC is telling me it is $20 per ip not $20 for a block of six, so I canceled the order. I wish CSC would get it together.

A block of 6 or just one is $20/month.

I believe there is a charge for it, but I couldn't tell you off the top of my head how much it is.
