 | AT&T DSL "Lagging" in Lisle It's been a while since I've had any reason to complain about my AT&T DSL's speed & performance. I've seen another post regarding Lisle having pour DSL performance, dating back to 2007.
I'm attaching a readout from Tweak Tester Results self diagnostic.

That's the best results I've gotten using 1500 kbit/s when plugging in the download speed advertised for me line on Tweak Tester. I've been using Tuneup Utilities 2008 for optimizing my internet speed, which seems to get me the best results. It alot better than any recommended google settings for my speed. The goofy thing is that when I plug in 512 kbit/s or lower for Tuneup, Tweak Tester recommends I keep RWIN between 13000 to 32000.
I'll post another set of results after I optimize my speed to 512 Kbit/s (which is total crap). |

 | These are test results if I plug in "up to 512 kb/s" to optimize my internet connection using Tuneup Utilities 2008. You'll see that it will obviously recommend to lower the RWIN to around 11,000. You'll then notice I put in 1500 kb/s using the Tweak Tester for the download speed advertised for my line.

Please, help and advise. |

 | reply to Bad213Boy What is your symptom? Are you using the tweek tester as a speed tester, or do you have some other symptom?
How do you do to »miranda.ctd.anl.gov:7123/ and »helpme.att.net/dsl/speedtest/ to Chicago? Maybe even try Elmhurst if that one is working at the moment. |

 | I ended up calling AT&T today. See, I've been using my labtop upstairs without using one of those filters. I must have plugged the DSL phone wire into the phone slot. I ended up getting really crappy speeds.
I'm getting a download speed of around 1300 kb/s, out of a maximum of 1536 kb/s.
I think thats pretty darn good for DSL. Too bad AT&T is raising their rates to $25 per month now. I decided to finsh out the end of my contract. Then I signed up for comcast, only $19.95 per month for 1 yr. I'll be getting anywhere from 5 mb/s to 12 mb/s now.
I can't see how anyone will stay with AT&T now, it's such a rip off. Anyways, thanks. |

| AT+T isn't that much of a ripoff if you consider other factors. Some people aren't switching to Comcast because: * cable installation fees are high * to not have to deal with Comcast throttling or network protocol interference (Sandvine) * cost: not everybody is being offerred $19.95/mo for 1 year. I haven't seen that offer online, on TV or in the bi-weekly mailings that Comcast sends me. * don't need or want Cable TV/telephone: to get that $19.95/mo for 1 year, you probably needed to sign up for Cable TV and/or Cable Telephone. |

Other than the issues with latency I have had over the past month AT&T DSL has been great, as advertised... I wish they would let you have a little more up, but at least it is not a shared connection... |
