[VoiceStick] Asterisk program- NEW- you asked for it.

I did not want to wait for the new switch, so I piced togather a decent start. I am locked into the inbound cost, which I think is a tad high, but was able to drop the USA outbound to I hope make up for it.

So here is is.

$2.99 per month. Includes DID, e911, Voice Mail, No reg fees, no USF separate charges, No separate tax charges.... Or in other works, no hidden junk fees.

For your $2.99 your account includes 250 minutes of inbound or outbound calling. Minutes above the 250 are 1.1 cents in or out.

There is NO signup on the web site for this. This is a test program.

Just sign up for a next to nothing account, then IM me and we will move you to your new asterisk rate.

As a start up special, anyone that signs for a NEW Next 2 Nothing account (no cost other then you need to deposit $10 into the reserve) will get an extra $20 kicked in when you convert to the Asterisk program.

$20 special is now till end of August 2008

For dslreports people only.

Holy crap Batman!

This is a plan I can live with. I do a lot of testing but don't use a lot of minutes. This is perfect and very reasonable. $3/mo for 250 min? I can run my tests and still have call quality and enough minutes to show clients.

Great job, Bruce!

BTW - Signing up now

I posted your $20 bonus, and your account is up.

When I get my new switch and billing stuff I can do more. But I was just in a mood of not wanting to wait and we were able to tweak the plumbing to do this.

It is designed for the hobby, or small business user. Of course if IBM wants to talk.....

I've been using the VoiceStick's Next2Nothing plan with my Asterisk system since March. Here's my average usage from April through July. We're not talking big bucks here, but I've got it finely tuned to my needs.

html code:
VOIP Provider Destination Minutes Cost Rate
VoiceStick Canada 358 $2.56 $0.007/min
VoicePulse US 239 $1.75 $0.007/min
Les.net US 156 $2.34 $0.015/min
VoicePulse Tollfree 436 $0.00 $0.000/min
============================================
Total 1189 $6.65

DID
Les.net 552 $3.99 (flat rate for incoming, no E911)

I use VoicePulse's FlexRate macro for calls to the U.S. If VoicePulse's rate is higher than Les.net's, then I route the call to Les.net instead. FYI: I never quite know how a domestic call will be routed. VoicePulse's rate to my neighbor's house is $0.019/min, but might be $0.005/min across the country.

No matter how I look at it, VoiceStick's new Asterisk plan isn't going to work out for me. The new plan won't beat Les.net's $3.99 flat rate for my DID usage. It's hard for Asterisk to route calls based on minutes used. So if I look at the new plan for outbound-only usage, I would have to send all my U.S. calls to VoiceStick. This would end up costing me more than what I pay currently.

Bruce, is there any way to have the $0.011/min domestic rate on the current Next2Nothing plan?

Someone else suggested that we do a outbound only and do that same 1.1 rate. I had not thought about it. I need to see how we would admin. the thing. From a internal issue, it would not be a problem.

Or maybe leave the DID but have a min. amount of traffic.

I just don't want a bunch of asterisks account doe $2 total a month.

Well, you could structure it more like the current Next2Nothing plan. Instead of the $3/month fee and 250 included minutes, you could have a $3/month minimum usage with no included minutes, all inbound and outbound calls at $0.011/min.

For most people, this amounts to the same thing. For those of us who make international calls, we're probably already close to $3/month usage and could easily route some additional domestic traffic through VoiceStick.

BTW with the 250 included minutes, I believe you mean 250 "domestic" minutes, not "international" minutes. (Check out the rates to Cuba!)

Hope this make sense!

I was up late but is it not a better deal to get 250 USA/CANADA min for $2.99? Net to net it is like 20 or 30 cents difference, and you get the DID.

250 x 1.1 cents = $2.75 Would I not have less wear and tear on me if I just issue a 25 cent credit or adjust the Minutes up a tad?

(I am trying not to have 20 different selling programs.)

I assume you mean Vitelity. When did they start offering that? The only thing I see is unlimited incoming for $7.95 for DID's in certain ratecenters, and $0.0139 PAYG outgoing. Are you on a reseller/carrier pricing plan?

The asterisk plan is good Bruce. The plan I would like to see would involve multiple DID's on the same account and allow those with a PBX to send customized caller ID info. That would make things more small/medium business friendly. That and 6/6 billing increments would certainly make things highly competetive.

Thanks for a taste of the asterisk plan. As you know, no good deed goes unpunished, and people will always want more.

The 60 min out is a one time thing only, that is not each month, Bruce has a better deal.

Once you start to mix Canada minutes into this plan, it totally falls apart for me. Minutes to Canada are 0.7 cents per minute ($0.007/min).

Sorry, I guess I wasn't too clear. Why don't you change the new Asterisk plan to this?
- $3/month minimum account usage (domestic + international)
- includes DID, E911, Voice Mail
- no free minutes
- all incoming at 1.1 cents per minute
- all U.S. outgoing at 1.1 cents per minute

You will still be guaranteed at least $3 a month. Users who make only U.S. domestic calls will get up to 272 minutes. Users who make international calls will have those calls count against the $3 minimum, plus they can take advantage of the 1.1 cents per minute U.S. domestic rate. Overall, the billing is easier to understand for all concerned.

I don't see a downside for anyone.

I think Bruce is offering a great deal! I am porting over one of my numbers that doesn't see a whole lot of usage, but a bunch of people have this particular number and I can't part with it for that reason.

I'm coming over from Viatalk (home of the junk fee ). Consider that after my 2 year period with Viatalk is up in about 2 months, I will have to pay their current rates PLUS right at $3.50 monthly in junk fees. This new Asterisk plan winds up costing less than Viatalk's junk fees alone, not even including their service cost!

Granted, Viatalk and some other companies are "unlimited", but if you are a light to medium user, this plan wins hands down, IMO. Just my 2¢.....

Cal96,

I think you have a good idea but our current POS billing system is SOOOOOO limited in what I can do.

New system is cominy, FOR SURE we will be able to do multiple DID's billing to one master ,just like the big boys.

And after that, because we grew our own platform, I am promised the world.

ALSO, we are still porting numbers to us at no charge. BUT this may not last. Our vendor might find out how little they are billing for this and I will have to end this!

So even on a Next 2 Nothing program, free porting!

Signed up for N2N online and temporarily scraped plans to go with Future-Nine based on this new plan. IM'd my info to BruceN. I did have problems with the signup process, it lost all my info after typing it likely due to not properly typing the confirmation email, but it resulted in not being able to find the 'to' website after making the correction. Had to start over and reapply and lost the originally selected phone number.

I like the plan as BruceN has provided it; however, simply having an outbound plan with minimum minutes would work as well (e.g. .01/min outbound on N2N).

For Asterisk users, there is no good reason for a combined incoming/outgoing plan. I understand a minimum monthly fee but would prefer to choose what I apply it to.
