It's too bad VelcomMatt and VelcomJoe doesn't visit dslreports.com anymore. They are absents for 6 weeks!

Nothing will change here. Matt was great at what he did but he felt his time has come with Velcom. He will be missed. One thing he didn't do was give us enough time to bring in some replacements to handle his accounts. I assume he didn't care and left rapidly because he got a better offer at a new job and had to make a quick decision. It would of been nice if he would of approched us with this offer to see what we could do but no such choice.

I will be actively visiting these forums along with some of our others here soon enough.

this happened out of the blue.

If I knew they were absent from DSL Reports for 6 weeks, things would of changed much quicker.

This only comes to say Matt was looking for a new place for quite awhile then.

the maintenance never took place due to some unforseen circumstances.

the maintenance has been changed to August 12th, 2008.

We will be sending an announcement today.

What will be happening is we are migrating from our current facility into a net neutral facility. Our current location is limited in capacity due to Bell's outdated infrastructure. If we stayed at our current location we would run into speed problems, so we are migrating ahead of time.

Thanks, it's good to see that Velcom's employees are returning to dslreports.com

Are you going to migrate to 151 Front St.?

Yep.

Right now I beleive bell uses their old ATM network in our current place so we pretty close to hitting a limit.

There was no plans to upgrade it so we decided it was best to move now before we begin getting problems.

As for employees coming back, it won't be Matt. We will be bringing in some new guys and/or girls. Matt left the company pretty quickly so we didn't have much time to prepare. If I knew Matt was dormant for so long on the forums I think I would of made changes before he did.

Yeesh, that's going to be a tricky transition. I hope everything will work out fine. Are you going to add additional transits?

I wish you the best and the important thing is that Velcom returns with force

We've created a tunnel between our two locations. Migration has already begun and it's all transparent.

What we need to do on the 13th is put our production cisco live. Right now our standby Cisco is operating in 151 while Bell migrates exchanges over. Once Bell has done migrating all exhanges there will be a short outage while we make the swap of Cisco's. We will try to do this in the very early AM.

Everything is operating smoothly so far.

If it wasn't for the tunnel, it would be a more problematic process. That's what originally happened on the August 1st notice. Migration was going to take place without the tunnel, however it was going to take Bell 3 days to transfer all our exchanges. That would mean LONG outages.

And definitely we will be adding additional transits. Another reason we are migrating to 151 is because we are in the process of building our own data center down here in brampton. It would of been completed by now but we ran into some power/hydro one issues in our new office. Everything will connect to 151 peering arrangements.

Thanks.

I wish you success enabling those new routers I hope they'll support MLPPP.

And perhaps, Velcom could become a member of Torix since you're migrating to 151 Front St.

Who said we dont support MLPPP?

It's been enabled for quite awhile now.

A few of our users are using it already.

I beleive it was enabled around 2-3 months ago.

Yeah good luck!

I thought Velcom's routers right now support MLPPP? I'm pretty sure they do..

BTW. I think I've seen the new office (it's close to my location which is in Vaughan, like a 10 minute drive from the 407 right?). I drove there to pick up some modems for one of my locations, the guy who answered the door was really surprised and he wouldn't give me a tour becasue "people were on the phone" haha, maybe next time. I'd love to see the Velcom HQ sometime.

Any speed boosts or service improvements with the new office btw?

Also, Rob do you have an email?

Hey, I know, I'm using MLPPP right now! Thanks!

It's just that I was scared the new router won't. But I'm reassured now!
