So .. great... now that his email contains shit... wonder how many email filters are gonna block him... bet he'll be on the phone daily with verizon because he can't email someone.

Since when does signing up require you to use your name on your e-mail? He was not allowed to request service because I'm guessing the system did not allow that to be put in the field name area. This hints at that "...they couldn't complete the order because his last name contained an expletive.". My e-mail does not have my last name and many others do not either.
Heck, I have one e-mail with any real info. All others have the names of one initial in the field area or something else like the name Jesus Flies. |

kleinml join:2008-04-18 Levittown, PA | He does not have to have his name in his email. He already had a telephone acct with verizon. With that name on it. He applied for DSL and it too had that Last name on it. When u get DSL from Verizon you are assigned a Generic User name that you are supposed to change on first login. That Generic user name is usually something like VZ23A8945 that no one can remember. Once u change the User name to what you want you are strapped with that as the Primary Emaill account as well. So you have to pick a good one. That is where this guy got all messed up. The Username because its also an Email address can not have the SHIT word in it. If he had just chosen a name like most other doctors for his user name like "ITHINKIMGOD" He would have had no trouble. |

That's one of the biggest reasons ISP typically prevent email addresses that contain such things. It's not a knee-jerk, nanny state decision as people would lead you to believe. I think the whole thing was a cop-out. This has nothing to do with email. He never even got to the part where he could pick his email... WTF... He could not sign up period. |

 | reply to kleinml Was this guy using his email for private or personal use? I can see how this would be a real problem if he was using it for business use. Being a doctor (or other professional) generally means your name is your brand. Obviously you wouldn't want your patients to email you at drhenrylibexpletivedeleted@verizon.net. How about people in this country simply show a little maturity and stop freaking out over a "bad" word ("My ears are on fire because you said Libshitz!"). |
