Re: No service on the West Loop at midnight 8/1/08

I am similarly out. Interesting to see the others in the same boat. I suggest changing the thread title.

Using WiFi to user with different provider.

»Ameritech - SBC FAQ »Is there an official DSL network maintenance window?

Is "Thursday Midnight-5 AM" now, or 24 hours ago?

edit: I now think the regular "maintenance window" was about 24 hours before the outage being discussed. So "Thursday Midnight-5 AM" is what I would tend to think of as starting late Wednesday night.

Cleveland, OH. Ours was down for a few hours. Had a few problems earlier today but they cleared up and weren't as bad as this. Got sync lights but couldn't authenticate for a good while. Seems to be fixed now. ?

As Inverted Pilot stated, they are working a maintenance window issue right now. Service should start coming up shortly as they are wrapping up work.

Not that it matters all that much to you at this point, but the maintenance window info on the FAQ is a bit out of date. The windows are M-F.

We are back. Any way to get notifications of maintenance?

yeah it would be nice of att to send emails out when they do this stuff as some people like myself get home from work at 1am play on puter till about 3:30am you think they could have a redundant backup system to offload to till they fix the main problem.

Menomonee Falls WI -- My service has just been restored. Down since midnight.

Seems to be a tad faster too, but that could just be me recovering from acute internet deficit disorder.

Just finished talking with Jean from AT&T support. There's (obviously) an outage (didn't give me specifics), but they're aware of it. I was told we should be back up and running by 3AM CST.
She mentioned Waukesha. Not sure if there's something important out there.

Thanks!

(horray for at&t mobile broadband!)

only way I was able to get back on was use the automated system and change my password. once I did that I was able to get back on right away. checked the link stats on 2wire box and pppoe0 kept failing and the others where climbing.

I lost service at 12:00 midnight. I called tech support. I had some work that need to be delivered before 8:00am. Was on hold for one hour. She knew nothing of any service outages. Went through the script.... 25 minutes later she informed me there was a network outage that she just became aware of. She said it was not scheduled and it was a pure coincidence the outage happened at 12:00. I suppose it was another pure coincidence when service was restored a few seconds before 2:00am.

Indianapolis should be back up and normal now. What time did you happen to do your password change? It could have been purely coincidental that you made the change about the time the Indianapolis area was being restored.

Edit: I should state that all impacted areas should be up at this point. You may have to restart your modems if you have trouble connecting. However, if you are still down after resetting your connections, it is likely a different issue from the larger issue.
