I've DLed numerous benchmark software, have AMD Power Monitor, and Task Manager shows two cores running.<br><br>Really I wouldn't be so hesitant if the Update page would actually give details! There is NOTHING in the description box about what this update does. I've searched for what the update may entail, and haven't come up with anything, so won't install it until I have a good reason to, i.e. performance increase, security increase, et cetera.]]></description>

I have built 10 systems to date with the 6000+ and I installed the actual processor driver with XP not with Vista (Vista has it built in). With XP you will need both the real AMD processor driver and the DC optimizer for many recent games to work properly (if you're a gamer). ]]></description>

I've read the description and don't think I need "the system" to regulate those types of parameters.<br><br>If there is just cause, other than what I'm guessing amounts to power savings, to install said driver, I might do it. PC's running nice and smooth and SC:FA runs pretty smoothly, for an X2.]]></description>

Just put this machine together and installation of hardware and WinXP went off without a hitch. Downloaded the Dual Core Optimizer from AMD site as well. Should I update my CPU through Windows Update?<br><br>Windows Update also wants to update my Creative X-Fi sound card as well, but last time I let it update was in my older machine and my sound stopped working! Had to uninstall drivers and clean install from driver cd... that's why I'm skeptical.]]></description>
