As for overtly labelling a joke 'a joke' - nope, I'm not going to do that. It's obvious in the joke itself. A sure way to lower the intelligence level of the membership is to start assuming that the membership isn't intelligent enough to understand what I mean.

As to whether my original posting was off-topic; well, no, I don't think it was off-topic, any more than I think that editorial cartoons in newspapers have nothing to do with the current news. In both cases, a serious point is wrapped up in a joke. At the risk of stating the blindingly obvious: I agree with the doxdesk guy's opinion of most anti-virus products. And you could have read his opinion more directly if you'd only scrolled up a little from the "PlaceboAV" part.

Lastly, what do you suppose the word "placebo" means?

You should really try ZORBIES they can absorb 20 times it's weight and it's a perfect cleaning product.....(actually my friend fell for it, he bought the darn thing...it's nothing more then a shammy cloth and it fell apart after one use.)

I'm glad you injected some sanity into this thread. Not only newbies may take this seriously but there were some regulars here who appeared to take it seriously/be confused. It should have been labeled OT as you observed. You haven't been here much in a while or you would know that this sort of thing is ok here now....this is not the first one.
