[Maxis] Maxis Wireless Broadband + D-Link DIR-300

I wanted to set-up a home network for my Linux (Ubuntu 8.04) desktop and laptop (WinXP Pro).

I just signed-up for Maxis Wireless Broadband (ZTE MF600) and a D-Link DIR-300 for RM99 at the Pikom PC Fair (1 - 3 Aug 08).

I called the D-Link 24-hour Hotline 1800-88-2880 for assistance. I followed their instructions as below;

Only 3 steps;
a) IP address on ZTE MF600 is 192.168.0.1, change DIR-300's IP address to match this i.e. 192.168.0.2
b) On DIR-300, set DHCP OFF
c) Connect the ZTE MF600 to DIR-300 LAN (1 - 4) ports. Do NOT connect to the WAN port. Yes, you loose one port.

In my case, I connected the desktop by wire to the LAN port and set-up my laptop for wi-fi with WPA security.

Everything is working fine!

Wanted to share this with others trying similar set-ups.

thanks.

Very nice. Hope you could share some specific details on settings on the Ubuntu side of things. I would much appreciate it

Cheers!!!
