| [connectivity] Need help making CNC3 work online. (ports seem to
Ok I have had a problem making cnc3 work for the longest time. everytime I try to login I get the "could not connect to cnc online" message. I contacted verizon talked with them, did screen sharing for hours and they could not figure it out. Instead they wanted me to pay for premium tech support.
Well so heres the scenario.
It seems like my ports I opened are not being detected. (I used netactivity 4.0 did a scan and nothing that I opened for CNC3 (8088-65535) came up)
I tried to google to find a better program but all whole bunch of junk came up. Is there program that will 1. scan Ip 2. scan ports (to make sure that they are open in the router) 3. find out what ports specfic IP's use i.e. (203.166.93.50)
additional information in my connection issues.
"""Ok heres my situation. I always get the "not able to connect to RA3 online message" SO here is my network status.
1. No I have never been able to play cnc online (But I have played plenty of other games online, Crysis, COD4 etc.) 2.There no recent PC config changes that are related to the internet. 3.I have visited my router config webpage (»192.168.1.1) and I have check to make sure my ISP is not blocking access. 4. The only firewall I have is Windows firewall and I have tried playing cnc online with it off. 5. I am in a private LAN, not a university or office connection. 6. The only router I use is the modem/router that I received from verizon.

Ok heres a complete Sum of everything I've tried.
1. Disable firewall 2. Disabled antivirus 3. got rid of background tasks. 4. Opened all Necessary ports 5. Ran UOtrace (had packet loss) 6. Set up an Static IP 7. Use the TCP Optimizer with tweaks.
QUESTIONS 1. I did some tests and it looks like I fail the OUTGOING connections. (I looked at the system monitoring program in the router and when I sign into RA3 and look at the program I only lose packets for outgoing connections. inbound is ok . (what can I do for this?)
2. I'd like to host a DMZ but it won't work because my WAN IP is not connected. How can I connect it?
(im using a Westell 6100 router/modem in router bridge mode)
Im pretty sure the main problem is that I can't seem to establish an OUTGOING connection with master.gamespy.com and easo.ea.com.
Thanks I hope I can fix this So I can play the RA3 beta as well."""""""" |

Have you checked out portforward.com for all the right ports to open for that game ? What part of the country are you in, and which model of 6100 are you using ? -- reboot, reset, reconfigure, then recycle. |

@verizon.net | Yes I checked portfoward. Remember I listed a huge global range so it has to be all covered.
Im in Texas, US. Westell 6100F
Like I said, my ports aren't being detected. SO maybe something is blocking them. what can I do to check? |

| Well, if you've already tried using the static IP in the DMZ, you've pretty well ruled out the 6100 as the problem.
Although I'm not sure I understand what you meant by "2. I'd like to host a DMZ but it won't work because my WAN IP is not connected." -- reboot, reset, reconfigure, then recycle. |

| How can I rule out the 6100 as the problem? I have not been able to enable DMZ yet. But I have set up an Static IP. How can I check to see if ports are really open? I used several programs that did not detect any ports I opened manually...
What I mean by "2" is this. [img=http://img166.imageshack.us/img166/1366/dmzhostfe8.th.png] |

1 edit | Hi Have you enabled the following ports for GSA? Working Around the Firewall / Proxy If you are behind a firewall/proxy and are able to change its settings, Arcade needs the following TCP ports open in order to function: 6667 (IRC) 3783 (Voice Chat Port) 27900 (Master Server UDP Heartbeat) 28900 (Master Server List Request) 29900 (GP Connection Manager) 29901 (GP Search Manager) 13139 (Custom UDP Pings) 6515 (Dplay UDP) 6500 (Query Port) 8871 UDP Gamespy
In adition you would have to configure the necessary ports for your game. Another question is does GSA support your game? You also have to configure your Windows firewall to allow both GSA and your game. Leaving a fire wall off, keeps the ports closed. You also have to allow both GSA and your game into your antivirus program. I have the Westell 6100 Rev L. I have found out to get GSA to work properly, I have to be on the DMZ with the 6100. |

@verizon.net
| Yes I have portfowarded ports 3873-29901 for GSA. Yes gamespy is a part of command and conquer 3. I have my firewall on and have gamespy and cnc3 on the exceptions list.
(Gamespy works with other games but not this particular series. ie command and conquer)
1. How did you get DMZ to work on the 6100? I tried it but it wouldn't work since my "WAN IP is not connected" I posted a picture.
2. And can anybody tell me a really good program to check my ports? |

Try entering the port there and click "User Specified Custom Port Probe" underneath. |

| I have the fire wall setting on the modem set to medium and I just had to hit enable DMZ and it was enabled. I didn't set up a static ip first. Well, my son did this stuff for me. I don't have any other computer involved either, so no other routers. The DMZ is set for the name of my computer. When my ip changes, I still have the DMZ working automatically. I don't have to do anything else. |

| reply to Jodokast96 Jodokast96 - I tried but It won't let me since my browsers, (both IE and firefox) browser reloading has been disabled?
Is there anything else?
Flo1356 - I have the firewall to "no security" If I hit enable DMZ then It says "resetting modem for requested change." then I go to the dmz host page again and it says "disabled" after I enabled it.
[img=http://img166.imageshack.us/img166/1366/dmzhostfe8.th.png] Heres the pic and the top part says, "wan Ip not connected" Im not sure why it says that since WAn IP should be connected. |

My bad, wasn't aware it did that. From that link, scroll down to the Shields Up link. Then follow my previous instructions. |

| Ok I tried the main port "8088" and it came out as "stealthed" I only have IMCP enable to "allow incoming request." nothing else.
I failed the "trustealth" because of the one IMCP setting that is enabled but does "being stealth" mean that my ports won't communicate when I'm trying to play Command and conquer 3?
Text report- SOLICITED TCP PACKETS: PASSED No TCP packets were received from your system as a direct result of our attempts to elicit some response from any of the ports listed below they are all either fully stealthed or blocked by your ISP. However . . .
"BLOCKED BY YOUR ISP" so my ports being stealthed or blocked can't communicate with the game server?
Unsolicited Packets: PASSED No Internet packets of any sort were received from your system as a side-effect of our attempts to elicit some response from any of the ports listed above. Some questionable personal security systems expose their users by attempting to "counter-probe the prober", thus revealing themselves. But your system remained wisely silent. (Except for the fact that not all of its ports are completely stealthed as shown below.)
Ping Reply: RECEIVED (FAILED) Your system REPLIED to our Ping (ICMP Echo) requests, making it visible on the Internet. Most personal firewalls can be configured to block, drop, and ignore such ping requests in order to better hide systems from hackers. This is highly recommended since "Ping" is among the oldest and most common methods used to locate systems prior to further exploitation. |

join:2004-05-01 Fair Lawn, NJ | reply to Aznstriker92 The modem's firewall should be set to medium security, I believe in order for either port forwarding or DMZ to work. It didn't work for me when I had the firewall set to no security or off. |
|
  Aznstriker92
@verizon.net | Hmm it still says "DMZ disabled" after I enable it and the router reboots. I changed the firewall security to medium.
I get a "WAN IP not connected" message. DO you?

join:2004-05-01 Fair Lawn, NJ | I have a Wan IP Address, so I guess I am getting one. It changes when I reboot my modem, but I still have DMZ enabled after that. I don't know how it was done, but it's been working for me. |

  Aznstriker92
@verizon.net
| reply to flo1356 Ok heres what I did to test the ports. I use the listening port TCP 52000 for bitcomet. When I had the security on "medium" it bitcomet took forever to sign in and detect that I had my port open. With no security, its much faster.
Then I did Shieldsup for both types of security and both were "stealthed"
How can I get my ports to an open status? |
|
  Aznstriker92
@verizon.net | reply to flo1356 Does it say "wan Ip connected" on the dmz host page? I mean I have a WAN IP too. but I don't know why it says not connected. Then the change won't hold. |
|
  Aznstriker92
@verizon.net | Also on the Shieldsup program, when I try to probe some ports(6667, 29900 etc), I get a "closed" status even though I port fowarded it.
What can I do for that? |

join:2004-05-01 Fair Lawn, NJ | reply to Aznstriker92 I found that port forwarding didn't work with the 6100 for GSA. That is why my son set up the DMZ for me. It shows my wan ip number in that spot. Are you allowing pings for Shields Up in your firewall? |
