JD : I would advised to leave the equip out for AT LEAST 5 minutes, a normal Unplug test is advised for 10-15 minutes but you also wana make sure that you dont have a home alarm system. These can cause tons of havoc on your IW.

If your IW is disconnected from the NID, then its either bad IW or another device busying out the line. Just as previous member stated, plug them in one by one to make sure the problem doesn't occur again. If it does on a single unit, then it may be bad.

If it is a cordless phone, it could be the battery.

RockyBB : try unplugging all devices from the house wiring then unplug any devices from electricity (cordless phones, alarm clock phones, answering machines, etc.). wait one minute. then plug house wiring back into TA. plug one non-electricity phone into a wall jack and your dial tone should come back. plug the devices back in one by one. if the problem comes back, then one of your devices is defective.

anon : I installed Call Vantage a few months ago and it worked well from the beginning. Just recently I realized that I went two days without the phone ringing. The system was down. All calls went to voice mail.

Currently the only way Call Vantage works is to have my phone "Wireless System" plugged directly into the TA. If I try going through my home wires I get a busy signal as soon as the connection is made. Eventually the phone goes dead with no dial tone at all.

Anyone have any suggestions on what to check? The system is unplugged from the original incoming POTS line at the Nid.
