I choose XM for the "better" (imho) programming. But either way I will never go back to regular radio I wont I cant you cant make me!
--
Get cape... wear cape... fly!

This would allow more channels to be operated on the satellite(s) in the future wouldn't it?

There will be no public poll that I'm aware of. It's my understanding that with the music channels there will be one dumped (either from XM or Sirius) where there are duplicate formats (like 70's, 80's, 90's, etc) and then the same channels will be simulcast on both services. Since Sirius bought XM, I would assume that the Sirius channels will get preferential treatment. Channels that are exclusive to one service or the other (like Howard Stern, Martha Stewart, NASCAR, Opie & Anthony, etc) will be offered as part of "Best of Sirius" or "Best of XM" packages. There will also be a la carte packages where you can pick and choose the channels you want, and "mostly talk" and "mostly music" packages. The different packages are already available, but which packages you're able to get depend on which receiver you have. The built-in Sirius in my Mazda can do any of the packages except the a la carte ones. My other two receivers can only do "Everything Sirius" or the "Everything plus Best of XM" packages. Sirius only has one receiver at the moment that can do a la carte. Not sure about XM.

scots : There will be no rebranding. The main company is now officially called Sirius XM Radio, and Sirius and XM will continue to be operated individually as wholly owned subsidiaries of Sirius XM Radio.

Right now Sirius subscribers have the "Everything SIRIUS" package, and XM subscribers have the "Everything XM" package. I believe they said that within the next 2 or 3 months (can't find where it mentions the timeframe at the moment), Sirius subscribers will be able to switch to "Everything Sirius plus the Best of XM", and XM subscribers will be able to switch to "Everything XM plus the Best of Sirius" if they want to. These packages will cost extra. If you've already pre-paid for a year (or more), I would guess that you'll have to pay the difference if you want to switch to one of the "plus the Best of" packages.

The current packages and the "plus the Best of" packages will both be available using current radios. A la carte packages will supposedly only be available with new receivers that will be released at a later time.

Cthen : The way it looks so far is they will keep you under the "Sirius Everything" or "XM Everything" package like you have now. This applies for those of us going month to month as well. To add on "The Best of" package would add an additional $4/month (if that's going to be the real price) or in your case they would just bill you for $4/month til your subscription runs out. Remember though I'm just guessing from the info I see floating around out there.

What I'm after is seeing if I can get just "The Best of" packages for both sides. If you decide this route and it turns out to be cheaper, they would probably credit you for the difference for the months after your subscription is supposed to end. Again though, I'm just speculating from what I hear out there. ;)
