Data Services vs. Vision Plans

I've noticed that the 59 a month data plan has a 5 gig cap, but for those customers who have the 15 dollar (like me) vision plan, it still reads unlimited.

I'm tethering using a 6800 and so far so good... It's a lot freaken better than to pay a hotel's 12.95 for going online for 1 day.

Every time I tether I check the speed, last week in Burbank, CA I was getting about 900 down and about 200 up. Then at Washington Dulles I went online again, and was getting about 2100 down and 400 up. Then this morning in Hillside, NJ (while waiting for my car's oil to be changed) I got these numbers:

I really hope Sprint doesn't FCUK around with us power vision users.

Keep it up and you will receive a hefty bill. The vision plan does NOT include tethering. The unlimited vision plan includes data on your phone only. Tethering to much will land you the standard 3 cents per kb.

Been tethering since the days of the 6700... actually before that the A800 phones or whatever it was... anyway... I'm using wmwifirouter, so to sprint it just looks like I'm accessing a website, or listening to streaming music.

The older phones you could turn off NAI...so they couldnt tell the difference. My Katana DLX does not have this option right now. Maybe you are one of the lucky ones

Ah ha! but now you have revealed your location to the world.. It should be no problem for Sprint to pinpoint your location and triangulate. Then they will terminate your account.

After all.....How many Joey's could there be in Jersey?

Pure speculation, but my impression of the Power Vision situation (as somebody who also has it) is that their site just isn't fully accurate about it. You can't even really tell that it exists anymore since it's only a grandfathered plan option.

I'll be shocked if they don't impose the same caps. I tether also with my Treo, but not extensively. Moreso lately now that I bought a Nokia tablet, which supports Bluetooth DUN.

Guess we'll see. I still say Sprint's the best deal around for data, and has the easiest tethering options. No way I can see switching over this. My choice is what? Not to tether at all?

let's see... I've been the LA, North Jersey, Vegas and Washington Areas in the past 7 days... let's see if they can catch up to me hahaha... but anyway... obviously I don't abouse it.

So far I've only used up 361 megs this billing cycle. One time I dialed a number from my laptop and using the phone as a modem and I was charged (that was like 3 years ago), I called sprint and complained and said... hey I thought I was suppose to have unlimited data blahblah blah and they credit me the 3 or so dollars they charged me.

anyway, ever since... either BT (which is slow) or now turning my phone into its own access point.
