Many routers support a feature called DDNS that enables you to associate a domain name with your router's public-facing dynamic IP address. DynDNS is an example of a popular provider of free domain names for dynamic IPs.
Such a setup will enable your router to be pinged 24x7 by domain name irregardless of what IP address your ISP has assigned you. |
