[Total Internet] Sympatico is no more well not under the same na

Hi,

Bell has decided to change the name of all it's sub products such as Sympatico, now it will be Bell Internet and Expressvu will be Bell TV etc.. Now this is a good move and should have been done a long time ago. There is a thing I wonder about, what gonna happen to the e-mail address and all service that have sympatico.ca in their domain name.

This is to get back to the good old root of Bell which also they will get rid of their old logo and just have Bell writing in big everywhere.

P.S. as you know that is the reason they got rid of the beaver.

Oh so that's what all of those "er" billboards on the streets are about. Starting tomorrow, they'll change to faster, easier, texter, etc., along with the new Bell logo.

@KILL BELL
I agree, same sh*t, different smell...

Even if bell were to use different domain for email addresses, they would still honour current clients who have Sympatico email addresses, until such time they cancel their account or want a new address.

From proof's link to the BCE website:

"Bell to launch its new national brand tomorrow

New logo, tagline and advertising campaign underline Bell's move forward Several Bell business units get new names Advertising supports innovative new products and services MONTREAL, Quebec, Aug. 7 2008 -- With a new multimedia advertisingcampaign aligned with the launch of the Beijing Olympic Games, Bell will launch its much-anticipated new corporate brand tomorrow....bla bla bla"
Humm, do I watch the Olympics or Bell’s website? ...decisions, decisions.

Damn and here I thought it was a DELL ad for Back to School. But I remember they did the same thing last year around Christmas with their blue gift boxes.

The New Bell brain-trust's top idea: Put lipstick on a pig

Good to see them addressing real issues with real solutions. Meet the new bell: same as the old bell.

Yeah, seriously... If you want to be recognized as Canada's leading communications company, act like it. Spraying perfume on a steaming pile of cow shit won't help.

Is it true

that they're also planning to rename their DPI throttling boxes "community traffic calming zones" and market it as a service enhancement?

Re: [Total Internet] Sympatico is no more well not under the sam

Just to bring everyone up to date (with news several years old), any webmail addresses at @sympatico.ca are IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) and are controlled by MICROSOFT.

Microsoft runs all of Bell's non business email through Microsoft servers. This was implemented several years ago when the new larger 2 GB inbox and 11 email addresses was implemented

Unless you are still on the old pop3 system, the pophm.sympatico.ca & smtphm.sympatico.ca are Microsoft Hotmail servers.

The email @sympatico.ca address is available to Sympatico customers, can be accessed through Hotmail as a hotmail address and to change the password you login into Microsoft Passport. The Microsoft Passport password IS the email password.

.sympatico.ca IS .hotmail.com.

I hope Microsoft doesn't eliminate .sympatico.ca. When IMAP was first implemented, I lost a list of contacts through Passport. Because of a bug in the conversion process, an old email address was frozen for 90 days. In the end nothing was recoverable because Microsoft lost all the data.

It's NOT IMAP ... there is pop/smtp access

In addition to what sbrook posted, the domain is still controlled by Bell Canada (do a DNS lookup).
