Greenie303 : I got my Verizon wireless working a few days ago and have had no major problems. I got my new Pantech card and had it activated and kept getting an error message saying I had an invalid user name or password which didn't make sense.

I spent about 15 minutes online with tech support to get it working. She had me check my settings and everything was right. Then she checked things on their end. No luck. Then she had me open a terminal window for VZAcess Manager and type in 2 lines of code. One was to check it and the other was to fix it. It works good now. I just wish I had written the code down because I don't know how to pull up what I typed in.

I'll have to check into using my cell phone for wireless access in case I ever need to have it.

On another note. I installed the program on my Apple and it doesn't look like Verizon wrote much of a program for Apple. I got an error message and didn't even bother messing with it.

Greenie303

stenman : I have a Aircard595 and have been exeriencing the same problems from my home. After the card was replaced I had the same problems with it disconnecting or going "dormant" even though the signal strength is -78db.

Tech support is now elevating the problem to their hardware people to check for a problem at the tower. I was told it would take 3-5 days to correct but that fortunately Verizon had worked through its recent 2-3 week backlog with trouble calls.

Difficult to understand how any company can abuse its customers by allowing a 3 week backlog to occur and then to think that a 3-5 day correction of a problem is OK. I have until the 25th of this month to decide whether to abandon Verizon. Needless to say I am giving it serious consideration. I cannot afford to be without email for 3 weeks or even 3 days with my business and driving into town to use a WiFi hotspot is hardly an acceptable backup plan.

Greenie303 : Thanks, that is what I thought. I have taken the laptop to 2 different Verizon stores including the one I bought the card at and all they do do is look at it, tell you they don't know anything about them, and tell you to call the the tech number. I've checked everything I could think of on my computer, such as the VZ application, network settings and device manager and nothing helped. I called the tech number and got a replacement authorized. I'll let you know if it works.
Thanks,
Greenie303

Max Signal : Definitely sounds like your card has issues. See if they will exchange, Take it to the store with your laptop and show them . That usually gets their attention
--
www.MaximumSignal.Net

[ Equipment] Bad Wireless Card?

Greenie303 : Hello,

First post. I'm sorry if this has already been asked. A few days ago my Verizon wireless started disconnecting right away, sometimes with in seconds. I have a Pantech UM 150 USB card. I checked my settings and they were the same. I reinstalled the program and even upgraded the software, no luck. I even erased my hard drive and reinstalled everything. Same problem.

It takes me 3 or 4 times to connect. I get all kinds of errors, like password types, PPP protocal errors, can't find remote server, etc, and if I get on it quits right away. If I try to connect with the Windows screen, it says the device can only be used with the VZAccess Manager even though I used to be able to. I disabled everything for the internal card I could think of.

I checked with the Verizon store and they said they don't have a service problem. They said they never saw this before, they thought the card might be bad, but they couldn't check it, and all they could do was give me the customer service number. The card is only 4 months old. I am running a 4 month old Vaio laptop with Vista. I never had this problem before. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Greeine303
