Do pilot numbers just randomly change?

And does anybody know what the yellowish red colored light means on the Franklin CDU-680? It will display this light when it fails to connect to EVDO, from the antenna on our roof.

Thanks!

opty165 : Well, we called Millenicom and they said Sprint was upgrading.

Now, my question is, does it take Sprint 2+ days to complete an upgrade? Or was that something Millenicom made up to make use happy? And why would Sprint just happen to upgrade the tower, the second a major storm rolls through? And has anyone else been effected by these upgrades, besides use?

Well, anyways they said if it's not back to normal by tomorrow night to call back. So I guess I'll just wait one more day. :(

cpayne5 : It definitely sounds like a tower issue.

Last year, all of the towers in my area were doing something very similar. The software would recognize a RevA signal, but when we would connect, it would go straight to Rev0. There were reports of many towers in the area acting the same way. It took Sprint two months to fix the problem, as everything showed up fine in their system. It turned out to be a piece of faulty equipment in the regional backbone that was causing a problem.

I know its annoying, but just keep trying to inform Sprint of the issues you're having.
--
Hail To The Redskins

No EVDO Service After Lightning Storm

opty165 : We had a bad lightning storm the other day. And all while the storm was going over our house EVDO worked fine. But after it got to the tower, which is 9 miles away, it stopped working and reverted back to 1xRTT. And this was about two days ago.

So this is what happens, when I first plug in the Franklin CDU-680, it shows an EVDO signal of around -83dBm(about the best we can get) then it jumps up to -117dBm after a few seconds and then finally disappears. And unplugging it and plugging it back in repeats this.

So my question is, what happened? Did lightning hit the tower? I'm not sure if that's what happened, because we're still getting an EVDO signal from the tower but can't connected. And we can connect to 1xRTT fine. And if lightning did hit the tower you wouldn't think that would work either.

Any ideas about what happened, or how to fix it would be very much appreciated.
