ak3883 : You can do that, but if you don't have any cable boxes, they Comcast will have to roll a truck to remove the trap for your connection on the pole/box. They might charge an install fee around $20 or something, usually the $2 change of service fee is for them typing a few things in the computer to upgrade/downgrade your level of service right over the phone.

Although I've also upgraded to digital cable from limited basic and only gotten a $2 change of service fee when they rolled a truck to remove the trap and give me a digital box... and when i downgrade to bare bones during the summertime they did charge $18 for the tech to come out and put a trap on, so YMMV. Sucks, but they can do it, the price was exactly what was in my most recent sheet, listed for "Change of Service: Downgrade, tech visit required"

bicker : Definitely. I believe you can even upgrade just for the sixteen days and then downgrade on the Monday after the Olympics are over. There is a nominal charge for each service change, though, so be aware of that. Here it is about $2 per change, so your cost to upgrade and then downgrade would be $4 over the price of the package you upgrade to, pro-rated to the 16 days.

anon : Right now we only have basic cable, so we are missing a lot of channels like MSNBC, CNBC, USA, etc. Can we have Comcast upgrade us to Premium just for one month (so we can watch all the Olympic channels), and then go back to Basic next month?
