Re: Merger might have made sense for Direct before..

Well, since they're starting to roll out the 1080P stuff a little more bandwidth might not hurt. Plus they could stop using those fake HD resolutions.

1080P content for both DISH and DirecTV will not be delivered by satellite, but by Internet connection/downloads to their HD-DVRs.

The 1080p Content from Dish is downloaded through the Satellite and not through Broadband.

We're both right and both wrong

For both DISH and DirecTV, the 1080p content is from their respective 'On-Demand' services.

DirecTV's is only delivered through the network, not satellite.
DISH has both satellite download and IP/network capabilities for their OnDemand service.

I stand (partially) corrected

The IPTV that Dish Offers is not considered On Demand, it is downloaded by choice from the user. Anything from Movies and More and the VOD in the EPG is On Demand and is pushed to the receiver without any intervention from the user.
