anon : Hit by lightning? Time to have the Qwest tech come test using their equipment through the lightning protectors at your address. These are inside the "telephone company" area of the "network interface device." Your high speed internet can be seriously degraded by the physical change to the protectors when they've done their job - even if you can't hear the difference on a phone conversation. And if you don't have a standard SNI at your address, all the more chance Qwest needs to come & test.

jasondm : I'm having the same problem with my service. My connection with Qwest has always been iffy, internet would cut out every day around midnight (I don't notice this anymore), anything with more than one connection slows down to a crawl. However, Torrents work fine, downloads at 700kb/s and uploads at 80 to 90kb/s, 7168 / 896 Kbps advertised. Lately though my connection has bombed. I'm having the same upload issue, connections through Warcraft III are pitiful, TF2 runs just fine though. It really started happening after our house was hit by lightning, took out all the Ethernet ports on all the computers and took out our router. Modem was fine and we had some PCI NICs lying around so we're using them now.

I did a line quality test but the results were dismal: »/linequality/nil/2422959

I have the same setup, except I'm not using the wireless part of the router, and I'm on XP. There are no firewalls, I don't know anything about pppoa and pppoe and that stuff, and I've also looked around but couldn't find any solutions except this page.

Edit: »/linequality/nil/2423009

knkayotte : I have the same issue with mac's and using HTTP based speed test and ping test. My Mac is locked via admins (work computer) so if never bothered diagnosing the problems.

I do know the test run perfectly on my PC's on the exact same network and equipment.

Do you have a pc you can conduct the test on? At least then you could eliminate Qwest and your network as the issue. Specifically one using IE as it seems to generate the least amount of issues.

I'd also try different browsers for your Mac. Wish I was more help, but I'm pretty sure your dealing with a Mac related quark.

anon : I just switched to Qwest a few weeks ago and have been having the most frustrating time. My DL is supposed to be 7M, but I've never gotten more than 4.5M.

More problematic is my upload. I can upload fine via some methods (bittorrent, ftp), but I can't send anything via http (email attachments, web storage, etc).

When I do an internet speed test, nothing at all happens on the upload test - no data at all is uploaded.

I have talked with Tech Support 3 times, and they are no help at all.

I have a M1000 modem, with a wireless router, using a Mac. Firewalls are off. I tried switching to PPPoA, but then I couldn't connect at all. I've looked around the internet, forums, etc, but haven't found anything to help.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
