I would speculate on that it does not even finish POSTing cos "may be the recovery/diagnostic partitions are not the same as expected".

It is generally a NO-NO to swap HD between 2 different sets of hardware. You may run into more problems than doing it normally. i.e. make 2 respective OS images and than restore them respectively,/strike>.

one is a HP and the other is a DELL. both have XP Home. The DELL has XP SP2 and the HP has SP3. Both computers work fine, the reason for swapping is the DELL has faster processor and more memory. Now for the problem, by the way both drives are SEAGATE. when I install the drive out of the HP into the DELL it doesn,t boot-up to windows,it just has a flashing cursor.
