anon : I also am in Texas and am experiencing some trouble. When i first got it it ran great, normally I'd assume. Now it is crap downloading at 20kbps or LESS! Pathetic! What is depressing is my up is better than my down. I do think that this did start with an upgrade and slowy went down hill. I dony know where this EVDO checkbox is, I dont seem to have one.

lujohnson : I feel your pain!

Are you also experiencing increased latency and/or packet loss? How's your browsing experience?... slower, same, delays and/or time-outs when loading pages?

If you haven't already, you might want to download Pingplotter and see what your paths look like.

Also if you haven't yet, run an "Update Profile" on your air card. It's usually one of the first things that Tier 1 tech support has you do anyway. (make sure you have the latest version of SmartView downloaded and installed, they'll ask that you do that too, even if you don't use SmartView as your connection manager on a daily basis)

I've been experiencing a similar drop in connection quality at my location for an extended period of time. It's taken over 6 weeks of patient, firm pressure to keep my repair ticket open, and to finally get some results.

By having my Pingplotter info handy, and by running 2 and 3 day long plots, I was able to discuss with the 2nd tier and network techs exactly what kind of behavior I was experiencing in detail. It's a lot of work though! And I'm still asking for credit for my time and effort, and loss of usability during the malfunction.

Fingers crossed, so far, part of yesterday and all of today i *think* it's getting better. Packet losses are no longer registering on traceroutes... and my latency seems to be more consistent over multiple runs.

Good news may be that they are upgrading your area... but the problem is, you have no way of finding that out! Within Sprint, one hand has no idea what the other 2000 hands are doing... there is no cohesive "same page" communications within the company. Tis CHAOS!
Sometimes you just have to keep calling until you get a good tech. Doing this can make all the difference in how fast your problem gets attention.

Sprint has a great wireless service, but their customer/technical service still has a lot of room for improvement.
