That's a good deal in this market. Forget 3% raises, it's the health care that was the deal maker. Most companies are making their employees pay 10,20,50% now, which is way more than 3% of pay... |

| OK, let see, worker pays health-care premiums, even part of them, EXPENSE, non-deductible. Company pays for employee health-care, expense, DEDUCTIBLE. Hmmmm.... -- RIAA/MPAA... Bite me!!!! In constant search for intelligent life on Earth! |

Aside from that, getting a semi-decent wage increase will help me KEEP UP with my current bills.. like paying $800 a month in gasoline.... & an obscene amount to heat my house this year.
Maybe you should stop being concerned with us getting free healthcare... and be more concerned with the root of the problem. THE COST OF THE HEALTHCARE itself. Write your politicians and have them figure out a way fix this problem.
If you people have a problem with us getting free healthcare and decent wages, dont let it be a problem... QUIT YOUR JOB and fill out applications for a union represented job ! OR FEEL FREE TO ORGANIZE ONE IN YOUR WORKPLACE !! |

 | Free in regard to contributing to the premium of the insurance.. everyone has co-pays for visits and prescriptions. |

When you get hired your total cost to the company includes your salary and all benifits. That is why you can earn a righr wage if your company is only paying your wages.
Free Gov healthcare is not free either. It is paid for by taxes, and who pays those. Don't say corporations. They don't pay taxes. Taxes are built into the cost of the product that they sell. -- I'm not as good as I once was but I'm as good once as i ever was. |

No one said the government needs to "run" the healthcare system. That is not what single payer healthcare (which is what most universal healthcare proponents advocate) is.
It's sad how the right wing corporate talking points have soiled so much of the "dialogue" in this country.

PoloDudePremium,VIP join:2006-03-29 Northport, NY kudos:2 | Yes I want the Gov to run/manage my health care thru the single payer system also. They have done so well with every thing else. Annual budget. Never balanced trillions in debt Social Security-- bankrupt Medicare- Filled with fraud and billions over budget Educational system- should be better much for the huge amount of money that goes into it.
The only thing that works as it is supposed to is our Armed forces. And that is when they are allowed to stick to thier main purpose of killing people and breaking things. -- I'm not as good as I once was but I'm as good once as i ever was. |

I do my own negotiations. It's been good for me so far. I'm glad to hear no strike is happening - Verizon (the company AND the workers) don't need that right now. |
|
 | My brother in law used to do his own negotiations too, always preached how his education and unique skill sets is the only thing a worker needs
until
young harvard MBA's figured out that outsourcing to India would save a lot of money
No layoff language, no extension of health benefits other then cobra, no seniority system (younger lower paid workers were somehow spared) etc etc were never in place with HIS negotiations........... |
