anon : Ive been having the same issues as above. Late last night ,19th-20th a.m, the TV lost signal and the internet drooped for about an hour. Now it seems the internet works fine, Ive disconnected from Warcraft a few times but nothing like it has been the last few weeks. I'm getting 32mps DL from the Chicago server using SpeakEasy website speed Test.

StoneGate Way

anon : Soon is appearantly tomorrow morning. Supervisor called us this evening and said to expect an outage between 5am & 6am, they are splitting the network from 2 halves into 3rds, in hopes of alleviating network congestion and stress on the amplifiers and whatnot on our node(s). I'm crossing my fingers....

bluegrass : Well the Tech came by today. It seems the ENTIRE South side of Lexington, which I would take to be from Richmond Rd to Harrodsburg Rd, outside of the Circle, is the hot zone for this problem. Of course I was told that they are working on it very hard, and hope to have it resolved very soon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed....

Cheers

anon : I'm not sure what other problems/symptoms have come to light in the S. side of town...our speeds have been fine, as advertised, we are just getting random-rapid-frequent packet loss on the upstream side.

According to some regional rep based out of Louisville (a knock? is what the techs call em) said the Lex. local Tech Supervisor described a problem with the Upstream signal, causing ingress, jitter, latency, extremely low SNR, drastically fluctuating Upstream power levels and SNR...and at the same time, D/L side has shown no problems.

Now, this "south side" area I speak of is basically the "Open Gates" neighborhood, from Southview & Pasedena -to- Pasedena & Stone Rd/St.

Sunday night/Monday morning (Aug18th) Insight had a crew out working on something between 1:10am and almost 3am....this maintenance was supposedly the cure to (1) of this areas known problems...I was lead to believe it was to fix the actual U/L speed issues, but not the latency/ingress issue.

Now, I know I've made a few posts in the last week or so about our problem, but I'd really like to hear from anyone else in our area!!! If you or someone you know lives in the Open Gates neighborhood or around it and has been experiencing loss of internet without their modems actually rebooting or going offline, mainly between the hours of 10am and 6:30pm daily...please post a comment. :)

bluegrass : Nice...I wonder if this the reason for my nonexistent uploads for the last 2 days. I was on the phone with the techs last night and today, but all claim that all is well on their end now. I even swapped modems while I was on the phone with the tech. No dice. I am getting full d/l speeds, but my u/l is between 2 and 5 kbps. OUCH! What's up Insight?

Unplanned Outage, Lexington KY, South Side (unofficial)

anon : This is to cover a variety of internet and phone issue sranging from around June to current of this year, in and around the South side of Lexington Ky, generally speaking....I am not an employee or representative of Insight in any way, just a customer, this is what I've been told in the last 24 hrs during 1 phone call and 1 tech visit

As of Sunday, Aug 10, around appx. 3pm, various Insight internet and phone customers may notice a massive degredation in their service until a local problem has been resolved....

A few weeks ago we started having issues with out internet becomming unresponsive, sometimes causing the modem to completely reboot/recycle, sometimes it would cycle only the U/S signal, and sometimes it would just sit there as if it was supposed to be working...but not be. High latency & randomly fluctuating upstream signal strengths were about the only hard facts Insight were able to see when we'd call and complain.

I had posted a reply to someone elses topic on a similar issue, with the exception of erratic speeds, and this is more a follow up that might hopefully cover his issues as well: »[Speed] What's up with Insight???
Who knows, maybe it'll help »[Speed] Back in the Crapper in Lexington also.

We had a good period of disconnection on Sunday, so I thought it wise to call Insight while it was still down, so they could actually see it while it was happening, and it turned out "we are aware of an outage in your area, and are working quickly to resolve this issue" or whatever their phones say. After getting through to a tech rep on the phone, I explained my issues to him...again, even though it was the same guy I had spoke with 3 consecutive times in a row who had miraculously not entered anything into their system in those 3 times I had called....nice dropping the ball their guy! Anyways...

According to this rep, the problem they discovered on Sunday looked to be the probable cause of my issues, along with several other complaints in my area. It has something to do with their "trunk line" causing signal degredation that supposedly affects how their systems manipulate individual modem signals and speeds. Something about it not synchronizing properly or balancing the load, causing intermittent high latency and erratic speeds, etc etc etc, but without causing the modems to completely disconnect.

We had a tech scheduled to come out this morning to check our tap and drop, which he did come out, but inlight of yesterdays discovery, all the tech had to say was something like this: ~This is appearantly a problem that's been going on now for appx. 2 months, and it is most likely that the problem we found with our main line, or trunk line, that feeds this area, is the cause of your internet going berserk the way it has been. They sent out a light crew yesterday to figure out was was wrong, and another crew last night and this morning to locate the piece of line that's bad. If they get it located by tonight, I'm sure they'll send out another line crew here tonight or tomorrow to get it replaced as quickly as they can. At this point in time I'd say you'd be better off waiting until something like Saturday through Monday before you know....well...if come Monday morning your internet is still all messed up, then obviously this problem wsan't causing your problem and you should call us back, but right now there's nothing I can do to find out for sure if your problem is independant from everyone elses.~

Ok, fine by me. He also went on to say that since yesterday afternoon, both internet and phone service will be highly unstable, and will continue to be this way until they get it fixed sometime this week. (Gotta love their network status page....always blank)

There, I hop this helps, feel free to call them and ask, I'd love to hear that somebody got them to deny this or say something drastically different. (In reality, I've been complaining to them of intermittent connection issues since the middle of March..and I'm tired of techs coming out being lazy, not wanting to even climb the pole to check signals, because they just dont want to have to replace the 15 year old drop O.o)

Good luck, sorry this was so long....
