So, it's been a few weeks, and all was fine for the most part after I changed this setting in my modem config. However, now it's doing the same thing. The inactivity light goes blank, and the connection just drops. Sometimes, it does it more than 2x a day. Is there another setting I can modify, or is it time to get AT&T on the phone? They have horrible tech support, so I'm wary about calling them, but I will do so if there are no other options. To be honest, I've had so much headache with AT&T getting this DSL set up, I'm about ready to drop them completely and go with cable. If anyone has any idea what else I could do to at least maintain connectivity, that would be awesome. It only seems to drop when there is some idle time, or when the connection isn't in use. However, it dropped mid-download the other day which proved to be annoying.

When the modem is using the Smart keep alive setting it will start and maintain a PPPoE session while the ethernet link is up, when the ethernet link is down the PPPoE session is ended.

The Always attempt to connect setting, the modem will start and try to always keep a PPPoE session.

I recently activated service with AT&T/Yahoo DSL Elite package. So far, the speeds are acceptable and things work. However, I can't seem to hold a connection.

First off, my modem is: Motorola 2210-02M
Router: Airport Extreme

This is not a speed issue.

When everything starts up, the cycle is fine. All the lights go green and the activity light blinks when it's in use. I can browse the net fine. However, my connection seems to drop after a few minutes or every hour - but it doesn't cycle. The activity light is not on, and all the others are green. This is how it stays forever until I reset it.

Here is an example of what I am talking about:


Now, if I try to do anything on the web, it's useless. I can't even browse to »192.168.1.254/. If I power off the modem, power it back on and have it re-cycle, it works fine.
