battleop : So here is more on the story. They send out an engineer who told us where to put the conduit and what specific type of pull string. He told us anything other than the provided brand/size/etc would mean they would not bring the cable in.

So the day they show up they send 4 guys with a bucket truck. One guy to bring it from the pole, one guy to shout orders and two guys to stand there. So they get the cable to the building and start calling to find out where the other crew was. After 45 minutes I ask what they were doing. They said they were waiting on some guys to come pull the cable in. I asked if they mean someone to pull on the pull string from the other side. They said yes. So I asked why couldn't one of the other guys standing around couldn't do that. They said it's not their job to do that.

Even after that it took another guy to terminate the cable in the building, another guy to terminate it at the pole, and another guy to put up the multi mount, and yet another guy to turn up the T1s to this customer.

Do you trust management emphatically with your health & safety (that worked so well in the past that OSHA and the Department of Labor were created and still exist today - ever wonder why)?. Does management put your ability to provide for your family ahead of its profits and stock price?

Do you actually know what the problem of bringing that cable to the colo was - or are you just union bashing for the hell of it? Maybe you're jealous because these guys have better benes and make more than you? Maybe you have been working 45+ hours a week or Saturdays lately for your regular 40 hour pay - and seeing a work crew sent home by VZ because they didn't want to pay OT rates, angered you. You chose an "exempt" position - we however, did NOT. Do you see me complaining about YOUR employment package?

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.
