nnaarrnn : 256k IS the upload with the 6mb package. you dont get 768 until you go up to the 12mbit download package, which in my opinion is too slow for 12 down. it should be at least 1/1.5 up with 12 down, and 512/768 up for the 6 down.

anon : Well this is my first post on this new ISP, and already made 1 call to tech support, when I first called to check on speeds they told me 6mb down and 768 up. I have ran numerous tests and I have got 6mb down every time. Great right? Well my upload speed is barely 200kb/s. When I called tech support they told me that the highest they offer is 250kb/s. So why is it they told me 768 when I signed up, but when I installed it it suddenly gets below half that. I was pleased with the no wait time, a nice change from the 4 hour hold time with frontier.

So what are you guy's actual upload speeds? I really hope I can run XBL on this low of an upload speed. Also do any of you guys use an aftermarket modem with yours? I really don't wanna use my old linksys wireless router.

anon : Well as the topic states, I'm looking to switch ISP's. I'm in the SW part of the state (Princeton/Bluefield area) and have little options for internet. Currently I'm on a spotty DSL service at 40 a month, I can pick up the 6m package from Suddenlink for 30 a month for the first year and 40 a month after that. Also I have read that I shouldn't use the stock modem, but buy a different one, would you recommend that.

Any help on outages/etc is greatly appreciated.
