One of the big selling points on the Kindle has been the FREE internet access thru the Sprint cellphone network that is included as part of the purchase price - no monthly fees. A friend of mine got one and he uses it all the time to check Gmail and stock market prices no matter where he is and without needing a data plan from a cell provider.
