What if you could just click a button with your mouse, and all the songs played by a radio station were automatically recorded to individual mp3 files, with file names indicating the song title and artist?
What if these mp3 recordings were of better quality than those you purchase from iTunes, since the source is provided by radio stations trying to attract more listeners and thereby increase their profit by broadcasting a high quality "digital" signal?
What if it were legal to do this due to existing laws protecting your right to record radio broadcasts that use our public airwaves, and the RIAA were wetting themselves since they cannot do anything to prevent it?
Would anyone be interested in this technology if the costs were reasonable, or would they ignore it and still download music files illegally?
Would you tell anyone else about it, particularly the younger crowd where something like this might prevent a devastating blow to their financial future like the case of the 16 yr old cited in this thread?
BTW, the technology does exist, its called HD RadioPC. |
