Re: Help desk software.....of sorts.

For what they are asking for with no money down and no installation of software. Guess what this is going to be a tough one.

If they were to pay then I would suggest.
Microsoft Office Communicator Web Access.

Or

Lotus Sametime Entry if in a Notes environment.

Why not some java applet IRC thingy? The best thing I've seen many places is LiveChat I believe. VoIP too?

Maybe

I know we've had a few threads on help desk software, but I need something a little different. I have a client (a rather cheap client) who wants me to setup something very basic. We don't need the ticketing/faq/downloads portions of a full suite. They just want the employees to be able to click a button on a website and connect with a tech (mostly me) over a chat window. They would prefer to also have a SIP option, though it really just boils down to audio. They are already using a VoIP solution, so there would be no need for new accounts.

The catch is they don't want to have to install software on the employee side, and while the logic makes sense, explaining the reasons would take too long. They need something similar to the way Kayako just pops up a chat window from a browser, but preferably with a SIP pluggin (that doesn't require setup on each PC), and cheaper.

I am striking out finding a retail solution advertised to meet the needs, but I'm convinced there is an alternative way to accomplish this - one that I just haven't thought of yet. Anyone have suggestions? The no-installed-software part is really hanging me up.
