Max Signal : What was your RSSI on REV A before hooking everything up? If you using the magnetic mount antenna remember it must be on a metal ground plane. An RSSI of 80 should get you good speeds .
anon : I think you have about what you need coming. You may find that an outside Antenna may work better. I live about 35 miles south of Montgomery and get 3 to 4 bar on my Razr and EV showing most of the time. I have a pc5750 Card that I use for my EVDO connection. Most of the time I am able to get an evdo signal with the outside Antenna and no Amp but it will shift back to 1x more than I like.

What you need to do is lock your card to EVDO so it will not shift back to 1x. When you do that, it with not shift back to 1x. If I put the amp in line and lock EVDO then I get a 4 to 5 bars and a 75 RSSI or less. Without the Amp about 1 to 3 bars and a RSSI of 82 to 87. When you lock your card to EVDO you will notice there will not be a many bars showing and you can check your RSSI for your signal strength. You will need at least 1 or 2 bar showing for your card and at least RSSI of 85 to 87 are less for a consistence connection. 75 RSSI or less is much better and will give you the fastest downloads.

RJB1979AU : Whats up all? I just switched from wild 'blues' to alltel axcess due to WB horrible customer service. I live in a rural area 20 miles from Montgomery, AL. My zip code is 36078. The EVDO coverage map shows that I'm just outside of EV coverage. I usually have 3 bars of 1x but occasionally it will switch to EV rev.A but it never lasts more than a few mins. I never obtain download speeds faster than 140k and upload is around 40 k even when there is an EV signal which SUX! I have an Huawei ec228. I have researched the antennas and signal boosters and have purchased a High Gain 7 dbi 13 inch Indoor Desk Top Cellular - EVDO Antenna, CA 819K Signal Booster, and a Huawei EC 228 Data Card Adapter from maximum signal.net. They havent arrived in the mail yet but it shouldnt be long!! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
