Click for full size
Download CableNut from here »cablenut.com/

Use the settings in the picture.

Save, exit, reboot, retest.

Rerun the Tweak Test

Run Two Speed Tests from the two DIFFERENT cities nearest to you that are listed here: Speakeasy POPs

Also, test here »ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/test512

Note your transfer rate after about 30 seconds. Then cancel the download.

Post the URL for the New Tweak Test. For the TWO Speakeasy Tests, Copy and Paste the speed results from those tests and note the speed from the FTP download test.

THANK YOU: Success! -- and speed is back up to between 1.1 and 1.2 Mbs. -- good enough!

The "ftp transfer rate" (»»ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/test512 ) is up from 123 Kbps. to 133 Kbps.

There's no way that change in RWIN made any difference. Switch it back to 65535, save and reboot and retest. If you're seeing any difference, there's an issue that is causing the performance problem and lowering the RWIN is just masking it.

Nope, not RWIN alone, as it was changed back to 65535, with Speakeasy still reporting 1+Mbs.

Could it have been one of the other ten adjustments.

Oh..., I now realize that I reran the Manual Tweak Screen with only DefaultReceiveWindow and TcpWindowSize changed back to 65535, while GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize remained 37752.

+++ New Information: +++ Earthlink said that there was "trouble" on the line from the "central office." Last night, at one point, the speed was measured at 2. kbps -- I'll conclude that they'd been working on it, as it is back to 1.1 Mbs. now. That low speed was after I moved GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize up to 65535. It is now back to 37752 along with Default-RW and TcpW-Size.
