Ok, what's the deal with the 255.0.0.0 netmask?


Anyone else?
Is it just me, or does everyone get a 255.0.0.0 subnet mask when using BroadbandAccess?

This is horribly wrong, as Verizon certainly does not own the complete "A" block of 75.*.

As a matter of fact, Verizon's wireless (National and Broadband) network is only composed of the following IP addresses:

75.192.0.0 - 75.255.255.255

More detailed information at - »ws.arin.net/whois/?queryinput=75.198.0.0

Which would give them ownership of several class "B" blocks.

Nevertheless, this is wrecking havok on my connection. My ARP entries are filled with entries, because my computer now thinks that we're on the same subnet:

For the life of me, I can't figure out why those IP addresses have the same MAC address as my adapter. They're connections spread out across the country and various providers - sbcglobal, comcast, etc.

The only obvious ARP entry I should have is 75.198.245.1, which is my gateway to the 'net.

What's also happening is I'm recieving traffic from those IP addresses as well. I installed a packet sniffer and was able to see stuff coming in from them.

Help?

Fix this please?



(And no, I'm not new to this, everything in the network properties is set to use DHCP.)

This is unreal. I called technical support and tried to explain to them what was going on, and the lady basically didn't even know what a DHCP server was, nor was she able to comprehend what's going on.

I asked a number of times to talk with a level 2 tech and she told me that there wasn't any...how can this be?
