Many users would take that as an insult, even if its justified. They would then complain to their manager and your manager, and you would lose that battle in a second.
Is this proven by you or you're just speculating?
Proven!
Toll collectors who handled money, would wear gloves to keep from getting dirty hands from all the money they handled. People passing through would complain that they felt slighted by the collectors wearing gloves, insinuating they were afraid to touch them...
