Cable TV (or its forerunner, CATV) was pretty much invented in Pennsylvania in 1948.

Where I am in northern NJ, cable has been available since 1975. Our town was wired in 1976. We wondered back then how they were going to fill all 36 of those channels. It was Suburban Cablevision back then (no relation to any other Suburban Cable) and was purchased (with the other McLean-Hunter systems) by Comcast in 1995. At the time Comcast bought the system it was (and still is) the largest system in NJ and one of the largest single systems in the country. You can sort this excel spreadsheet any way you want.

Unfortinately the provider name is updated, so it does show Comcast for Harrisburg, but it began service in 12/1/1965 in Community ID: PA0427.

Oh wait, I had it sorted by date, so at the very bottom is all the inactive companies, which contain a lot of the old cable systems and counties they were in... just not dated. I didn't know Charter had some systems in PA. There's some classic providers in there though.
