Who holds the patents to visual voicemail? Not Apple...

Though they do get points for implementing it, and pushing other carriers to do so as well. (Now when will VZW VVM make its way to anything other than the LG Voyager?)

Exactly. If it wasn't for a product with the buzz about it like iPhone, I doubt the carriers would ever change a thing for lack of incentives.
