It's about the demand -vs- supply thing... Have to keep the servers working quickly, the customer's surfing with as little issue as possible, and the share holders satisfied so you don't go bankrupt :)

Most ISPs though have worked to upgrade and continue to expand their networks, and are based on a setup that did not expect the kind of expansion the internet has seen over the last ten years or so. We're talking about Canadian ISPs and let's face it, Canada is far behind the US when it comes to broadband infrastructure. Which is sad considering America is far behind most of the rest of the developed world.
Actually, Canada's broadband infrastructure is considerably -better- than what they have in the USA, it always has been and still is (FIOS doesn't count, either. We'll see what happens when Verizon starts bleeding money from every orifice that they have). The reason we're seeing these caps right now is because Canadian companies were investing in broadband back in the early 90s, and 50% of the Canadian population was using broadband back when the US was just starting to get into it. The Canadians are now trying to turn a profit on their investment. The exact same thing that is happening here now will be happening in the US, Europe and Asia in 2-7 years when shareholders start demanding profits on their investment.

Nice try though, the whole "America is ahead" when it comes to broadband is a popular, yet incorrect, myth. You can't be faulted for this.
--
I swear that I will faithfully and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, Queen of Canada, Her Heirs and Successors, and that I will faithfully observe the laws of Canada and fulfil my duties as a Canadian citizen.

[Eastern Ontario] Blogtv and Cogeco

timmins316 : Hi, I've been a valued user over the last few years for Cogeco and I wish there wasn't a cap on bandwidth like other company's. I used blogtv.com a lot and it uses a ton of bandwidth but streaming sites such as blog should be excluded, the evolution of web camera sites has become a vast abundance of much newer cam sites like stickam and apparently their bandwidth hogs. Putting caps on customers for such usage is stupid and assinine. For people who like cogeco and want to stay with cogeco should have no more bandwidth restrictions. Why do other company's have no cap? Thats what I don't understand about these so called big companys not giving into customer needs and wants. Why does cogeco force customers to look for different ISP's when the one you got is soo good but have a cap limit. It's not fair to users who like using blogtv as their vice and they have to limit the usage and get bigger packages. That's stupid in my mind and shouldn't happen whatsoever. Why caps in the first place, you are just frustrating other customers with their bs. Yes blog is an evolution and it won't be stopped, not by cogeco or some cap limited ISP. Cogeco is great for speeds but come on caps. Shouldn't need those when the company is making millions already. Not fair to people who want to use camera web sites and be a camera whore. Rant over.
