NVIDIA GPU's flawed, dying

NVIDIA has announced various problems with recent GPU's but tried to claim it's limited to Laptops, as if that helps.... however others are saying that across the board Nvidia's latest graphics GPU's are failing at high rates.

This includes pretty much all Laptops and Apple MacBooks Pros using Nvidia graphics.

The Inquirer really blasted them saying the program extends through the 8 and 9 series including all the latest cards.

Seriously now. Engadget and Gizmodo are following up on theinquirer's "news" about the failures.

Mine hasn't hiccupped... yet!
I'll keep an eye on it though.

I have a nice 8800 GTX. Works great but it does have a Zalman cooler on it. Still I think it's a good idea to keep an eye on this issue.

Is the Inquirer going overboard? We'll see.

Err, MacBooks are using built-in Intel GMA graphics.

I think you can get nVidia on recent Macbook Pros. My MBP has ATI graphics.

Nvidia admitted problems in the Laptops. However The Inquirer says that problem runs much deeper. This part bothers me the most:

"A little digging revealed what this, and more, is all about, and it's far uglier than just the 'notebook' version. It seems that four board partners are seeing G92 and G94 chips going bad in the field at high rates. ...

Well, the G92 chip is used in the 8800GT, 8800GTS, 8800GS, several mobile flavours of 8800, most of the 9800 suffixes, and a few 9600 variants just to confuse buyers. The G94 is basically only the 9600GT. Basically we are told all G92 and G94 variants are susceptible to the same problem - basically they are all defective."
