I would have to power cycle the modem to get things working again, sometimes several times a day. Turns out I lived to far from the CO to qualify for DSL. The tech installed my DSL service without checking the quality of the line. When my one year contract ended I made the switch to cable internet service which for me was a huge improvement over my DSL experience.

Good luck to you.

sideband : Thanks for the info. I just started using OpenDNS a couple of days ago, but I started getting timeouts. I know some of the time it's my connection going down. I switched back to AT&T DNS to see if I still get them. I like OpenDNS's features and would like to use them.

gtojim : I live in Concord. I have found the Internet service to be very reliable. Unfortunately the speed slows way down every evening in my area. Kind of surprising with the high number of empty homes, 8 just on my block.

I started using OpenDNS a couple of years ago due to Astounds DNS servers being very slow. I haven't tried Astounds DNS servers since, they may have improved.

So the answer to your question is yes, I have found Astound Internet to be very reliable. The up time has been great.

Until last week I had the 10mb/1 service. I changed to the 6mb/1mb plan. It's $10 per month cheaper and I find it's just as fast in the evenings as the 10mb/1 service I have been paying for, verified by speed tests conducted on several different sites.

Since I have Comcast and Astound on the my pole, I'm thinking of switching. Has any one had problems with connection drops with Astound?
